Phenotypic Characterisation for Growth and Nut Characteristics Revealed the Extent of Genetic Diversity in Wild Macadamia Germplasm

نویسندگان

چکیده

Macadamia is a recently domesticated Australian native nut crop, and large proportion of its wild germplasm unexploited. Aiming to explore the existing diversity, 247 accessions from four species inter-specific hybrids were phenotyped. A wide range variation was found in growth traits. Broad-sense heritability traits moderate (0.43–0.64), which suggested that both genetic environmental factors are equally important for variability Correlations among significantly positive (0.49–0.76). There significant correlations except kernel recovery. The association between recovery shell thickness highly negative. Principal component analysis separated representative groups. Accessions integrifolia Maiden Betche, M. tetraphylla L.A.S. Johnson, admixtures clustered into one group those ternifolia F. Muell another group. In groups, within site greater than across sites, conservation strategies should concentrate on increased sampling sites capture diversity. This study provides background utilisation as resource be used breeding programs direction gene pool conservation.

Study of genetic diversity in bread wheat germplasm using nitrogen uptake and nitrogen use efficiency characteristics

In order to evaluate the traits related to nitrogen utilization and to identify the superior genotypes, 33 bread wheat landraces along three check cultivars of Chamran and Koohdasht (from Iran) and Gobustan (from the Republic of Azerbaijan) were studied in simple lattice statistical design with two replications under two treatments of non-usage and application of 200 kg/ha ammonium nitrate fert...

Genetic Diversity in A Core Subset of Wild Barley Germplasm

Wild barley [Hordeum vulgare ssp. spontaneum (C. Koch) Thell.] is a part of the primary gene pool with valuable sources of beneficial genes for barley improvement. This study attempted to develop a core subset of 269 accessions representing 16 countries from the Plant Gene Resources of Canada (PGRC) collection of 3,782 accessions, and to characterize them using barley simple sequence repeat (SS...

Genetic Variation and Inheritance of Early Growth Characteristics in Three Wild Pistachio Populations

Pistacia atlantica is the most important tree species for the economy of many rural areas in west of Iran, but no effort has been made for the genetic improvement of this species. The aim of this investigation was to study the genetic variation and inheritance of early growth traits in P. atlantica. For this purpose, three wild pistachio populations comprising 60 randomly selected adult trees f...
